Cornelius Spierenburg
On Monday, May 18, 2026, at the age of 87, Cornelius peacefully entered into the care and love of his Saviour, Jesus, at Parkview Meadows Townsend, surrounded by family.
Cornelius was blessed in life to share his journey with two wonderful women whom he was privileged to call his wife: Arda Spierenburg-dePager, his beloved wife of 15 years, who predeceased him in 2021, and Peggy Spierenburg, his wife of 44 years, who passed in 2005.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Jacqui Weiler (Larry) and John Spierenburg (Daienne), as well as his six stepchildren and their families. Cornelius leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him much joy throughout his life.
Cor was predeceased by his brother, Rien Spierenburg (Ruth), and is survived by his sisters, Bruina Brown and Anne Detmar (Klaas), along with many nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parkview Meadows for the exceptional care, kindness, and love shown to our father during his time there. He truly enjoyed living at Parkview Meadows and appreciated the friendships and connections he made with both staff and residents.
Cornelius was a quiet and gentle man, not one for many words, but his love, gratitude, and appreciation were always felt by those who knew him best.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church 1241 Broad St E, Dunnville, on Saturday May 23 at 2 pm with visiting one hour prior. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. On-line condolences at www.jwhartfuneralhome.com

Anne and Klaas, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Cor from a few years back. My deepest condolences to you and your families. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My Dad had so many great memories and stories about uncle Cor. He was a good older brother and a lifelong friend to my father and that is a beautiful thing. The world is a little less bright in his absence.

My condolences to the whole family. I will be praying for all of you. I remember spending so much time with Cor and Peggy. Peggy was a study head and had pretty well her whole Dakes Bible underlined but Cor was simply living out, in a very natural way the Bible in his every day life. I loved them both and I am sure Cor will be greatly missed by all of you. What a blessing to know he has gone home to his Lord and Saviour.
