Segui, Paul. (
born September 5, 1941 – died September 1, 2021)Much to the shock of his entire family who were sure he’d outlive them all, Paul Segui gave his final salute to the world on September 1, 2021, just four days shy of his 80th birthday.Paul was born and raised in the Aylmer area of Ontario with his parents, three brothers and sister Rosita who passed away as a child. His first job was working in a pool hall, and like many young men he went to work in tobacco fields where he would later meet his wife Dorothy.
Paul and Dorothy settled in Cayuga and later Dunnville, and began raising a family. Following a policing career with the Cayuga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police from October 1963 to January 1994, Paul continued to serve as a Special Constable before his “official” retirement in 2010. During this time of service, Paul combined his love of boating and authority, working with the marine unit and as a coach officer for several years. Some of Paul’s greatest memories were created as leader of the 2nd Dunnville Boy Scouts and later the Venturers. He remained proudly boastful of all the young men in his care and kept in contact with many as they grew and fostered families of their own.
One of Paul’s greatest joys was serving as a member of the No.6 RCAF Dunnville Museum. His homemade offerings of baked beans, spaghetti and chili kept his workmates fed during projects, and his love for giving back to his community kept him active and social. Paul will be remembered as a long-time member of Grace United Church in Dunnville, president of the Slowpokes Car Club, amateur dump truck operator, an avid tomato gardener, old car collector, farmer of freshly cut grass, super fan of the 80s Mudcat Senior A Hockey Team, and lover of all dogs everywhere. He will be dearly missed by many in Dunnville, including all his friends at the museum, his weekly coffee confidantes, the O.P.P. Veteran’s Association, the person who processes Pioneer Bonus Bucks and the Bakery Department at Sobey’s.
Paul is predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2009 and his brother Lou in 2015. He leaves behind his wife and partner in adventure Joy, his son Jeff (Dawn), his daughter Jeannine VanderBeek (Fred), his only grandchild Emily VanderBeek (Conrad), and his brothers John (Enza) of Dunnville and Bil (Betty) of Aylmer.
Visitation at JW Hart Funeral Home, Dunnviile on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service on Saturday September 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at the funeral home (limited seating due to Covid protocols). I was so sucked and saddened to hear this from my mom. Paul was a great friend and a long time customer of our family business. I have many fond memories with Paul. I was so pleased with the job he did with The Slowpokes, you may know that I rekindled the club with permission from the original club surviving members ? I was thrilled when Paul took over as I was on town Council and supported him through our parts store. He was always there when you needed him and I loved talking Mopar with him. Oh my gosh, this is shocking! So very sorry Paul is gone.
The girls and I have many lovely memories of time spent with the Segui Family.
Earle and I had a lovely visit with Paul and Dorothy before she passed away. I didn’t realize she was ill, but I did notice that he taking good care of Dorothy, offering to do many of the chores.

We are missing a dear Uncle and Brother-in-law. A memorial donation of 10 trees has been made through Legacy.com to help replant areas within Canada that have suffered forest fires or are in need of reforestation by other causes. Paul had a great interest in the Carolinian Forest and planted many trees in the region. Paul’s love of trees will continue to live on! Much love, Shelly and Shirlee.
We are so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. Our thoughts are with your family. Paul was a regular at the shop, glad we got to see him a couple weeks ago. Manicured grass was part of his schedule and one of his passions for sure. Keep your memories close and share them often.

He was a very kind man helping out wherever he could. He took care of
the Vets bringing them out to many functions at the airport and helping
them out in many other ways.
We will miss his Tuesday lunches for the guys as he was also a great cook.
Most of all, we will miss you Paul, but will never forget you ! R.I.P.

Dear Joy, Jeff, Dawn, Jeannine, Fred, Emily and family. I was very saddened to learn Paul had passed away. I have many many great memories of Paul. He was assigned to be my coach officer when I joined the OPP in 1988, a task he accepted but not so willingly….Paul had roughly 25 years on the job at that time and I was his fifth and final recruit he had to instruct for a year! At the very beginning of my first shift working with the OPP, Paul gave me some very sound advice…”You are a recruit. Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut. Now come on, I am going to take you to meet my wife.” And off we went. That was the start of our friendship. Paul was a very good police officer, authoritative but fair. I always felt very safe with Paul, probably due to the fact he had the stature of a fridge and such strength. Paul often spoke of his family, my he loved you all very much. A good man gone too soon, Paul will be missed by many. I will be thinking of you all Friday and Saturday, and wish you much strength as you go through this somber process. May the many good times and memories and loved shared with Paul help you during this sad time. Big hugs to all of you.
