Bill Schuur
It is with deep sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Schuur on December 18, 2025 in his 77th year.
Survived by his wife Lynn (Dunham), his daughters Nancy, Chris and their families. His brother Peter, his sister-in-law Jane Dunham and he was a special Papa to Cane. Bill is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Bill was born December 28, 1948 in Emerlo, Netherlands to Pietje Lulofs and Peter Schuur. He immigrated to Canada in 1959. Bill was employed as a Lineman for Ontario Hydro for 30 years until his retirement in 1998. Not one for sitting still, Bill soon found himself employed in the greenhouses at Rosa Flora.
Bill was an avid golfer, fisherman and a skilled pigeon racer. He was a familiar sight on his bike or on foot as he toured around Dunnville, greeting all passersby. He had a lively sense of humour and was always ready with a funny story or corny joke. Bill loved to sing and especially to harmonize. He was a past member of the choir at Knox Presbyterian Church and was known to make guest appearances in the choir at St. Michael’s Church.
Friends are welcome to join the family on Monday December 22nd at 11:00 am as a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Dunnville. A reception and celebration will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Centre.

George got to know Bill through their work, Bill with Ontario Hydro and George with Union Gas. When they would meet on the street George always enjoyed their conversations and remarked about his great personality.

Oh Billy….. I am heartbroken to hear of this news. Although it would be great to live life forever as strong, young beings, this is just not how we have been gifted life. What’s important though is the people we surround ourselves with in this Journey. I still remember the day I met you. You always treated everyone with kindness. You were always full of life everyday. Everyone who knew you, was enriched to be part of your life. I hear you laughing now, your laugh, infectious. Your passing is a great loss to all that knew you. “Are you sure, Schuur” I’m laughing and cryng. I always thought that was funny.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of a dear former co-worker and friend Bill. He was a man with a great gift to encourage and help those around him. He was the best of the best!!! May God strengthen you Lynn and family.
Bill and my dad worked together as line men for Ontario Hydro. As a kid I knew that I was in for a treat when I would see the bucket truck coming down the driveway with Bill sitting in the cab with my dad, usually singing at the top of his lungs! His laughter and zest for life were contagious. I will never be able to put on a brand new pair of shoes without thinking of Bill, who always made sure to drag his big, dirty work boot across any new shoes that he saw me wearing. He had a way of turning the shock of seeing a large unsightly scuff mark on my pristine shoes into laughter and hilarity. I feel truly blessed to have known Bill, he taught me how much fun life can be when you stop taking it too seriously.
I am so sorry for your loss, Lynn. I know that Bill will live on in the people that knew him and, like me, will never be able to forget him or his glorious laugh.

Hi, Lynn. Very sorry to hear about Bill’s death. As you know, Bill was a special person to me. He had a great sense of humour, and took serious things seriously. He always spoke of you with respect and affection. I enjoyed seeing both of you in your home by the river on those occasions when I stopped in to see how Bill was doing.
