The following is the official obituary from the Roy Family,
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of Marc Thomas Roy on July 26, 2023 in his 39th year of life.
Marc Roy proud and loving father to Eva Roy. Beloved husband to Phaedra Roy. Loving son of Maurice and Mona Roy. Predeceased by his brother Marcel, and dearly loved by his sister Michelle Roy and brother-in-law Grant Carter and by his nieces and nephews Owen and Blake Carter, Crystal and Amber Roy. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by many.
Marc Roy was born in Toronto and at a very young age Marc found a passion and love for music. This gift to play any stringed instrument was truly a remarkable sight to see. As he grew older, his talented gift only became more extraordinary. Marc has received many prestigious awards for his many accomplishments throughout his musical journey. Although music was his passion, Marc’s greatest accomplishment is his daughter Evangeline Roy. She was the sparkle in his eyes and what made his heart skip a beat! This unconditional love between father and daughter will live on forever. Marc will be fondly remembered as being a kind, humble, talented man that instantly made connections with everyone he met and had a special bond with everyone in his Bluegrass Family.
Life without you will not be the same Marky … we will hold on to and cherish all the memories for our days, months and years ahead. Rest In Peace Marky and play us a tune from Heaven.

Although we never got to meet you Marc, we’ve had the pleasure to hear all about you and your extraordinary life before you passed and continue to hear all about you from your wonderful sister, Michelle. Our deepest condolences to the Roy family & friends for the sudden and tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. Rest Easy Marc!
My deepest condolences to you all in this tough time!
Marky was not only my God brother but he was my first friend, my first love, and my first kiss. We spent everyday together and when he moved away from Toronto, it was my first heartbreak. My father and Maurice, Marcel, and Marky would all play Bluegrass together on a daily and those memeories I will cherish for a lifetime. I have never ending stories of the love and joy we all shared together. I feel so lucky to call them my God family ❤️
The one thing I will always love about Facebook was it was able to bring us back together. I was blessed to be able to see him play again at The Silver Dollar. He would come over to my dads and they would play for hours. Visiting with Mona, Maurice, and Michelle after a decade is a time I still reminisce about often. The Roys will always hold one of the most important places in my heart. I love them all more than I could ever say! I am sending so much love their way to lift them up through this time.
The messages we shared together are what will keep me strong without you Marky.
I love you Marky, Always and Forever! You and Marcel are together now! Until we meet again ❤️❤️❤️
Mes plus sincères condoléances à toi Mona, Maurice et Michelle ainsi que toute la famille. Je pense à vous très fort. 🙏🙏🙏
My Sincere Condolences, It is difficult to say goodbye…. It all started by saying Hello and that led to friendship and sharing!! I have been graced by sharing time with Marc and his family members….and to meet his daughter …Marc’s Pride and Joy! My thoughts are with the Roy Family… God Bless Marc RIP My Friend.
What a privilege to have known Marc through music. I like how he could make the band smile when he’d say. Watch this and play a unique note or joke and say I can do this with one finger. And he did. Certainly known for his music yet, every get together practice or performance included and update of his much loved family.
Ginny and Jim
Little Eva and Phaedra the loves of his life. Our deepest sympathies in your loss, trusting God will keep you in peace.
