Darren Rees
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his partner and members of his family, at Royal Victoria Hospital on Monday December 30, 2024, in his 56th year, after a strong and courageous fight with cancer.
Darren is survived by his partner, Sarah Kuchma, his son Payton, Payton’s mother (Nicole), his mother Agnes Rees and brother John (Sandra). Loving and caring Uncle to Julia, Joshua, and Harrison.
Darren was a simple, loyal, caring, and selfless man. Always thinking and giving to others more than himself. He had a successful 35-year career at Honda in Alliston. Darren would most often be seen tinkering and/or fixing anything mechanical – cars, motorcycles, equipment. Darren’s actions spoke louder than his words – he always showed up and supported his friends and family when needed. He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and attended at least one game in person each season. Darren taught us to value and love the little things in life. He will be greatly missed.
A heartfelt thank you to all the health care professionals who cared for Darren during his battle. Private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 147, 410 St. Vincent Street, Barrie on Thursday January 9, 2025 at 11:00 am with a Celebration of life to follow until 2:00 pm. Friends are welcome to join the family and encouraged to share their memories and stories. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society ( cancer.ca ). Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com

Darren became a best friend soon after joining Honda. We worked together and we were in the same zone until I retired.
Seeing him going through the last of his journey was heartbreaking. It presented a longing for answers to questions that have none.
