December 13, 1931 – September 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Nana, Carolyn Prashaw, on September 3, 2026, at the age of 94.
Carolyn was kind, loving, funny, and always welcoming. She had a smile that came easily, loved to laugh, and seemed to make friends wherever she went. She genuinely enjoyed people, and people were naturally drawn to her. Whether you knew her for a lifetime or only for a short while, Carolyn had a way of making an impression and leaving you with a story or a smile to remember her by.
She was “Nana” to far more than just her own family. Throughout her many years in Dunnville, she became a familiar and loved part of the community. Whether you knew her as Nana, a friend, a neighbour, or as your school bus driver many years ago, chances are she remembered you and was happy to see you.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, William Prashaw, in 1995. She leaves behind her children, James Hutcheson and family, Karen Kot and family, Robin Prashaw and family, Valerie Woods and family, and Wanda Tobin and family, as well as her 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn touched so many lives throughout her 94 years that it would simply be impossible to name everyone who was important to her. Her family extended far beyond the names listed here. There were so many people she loved, so many friendships she treasured, and so many people who loved her right back.
We were incredibly lucky to have Nana for 94 years. Her laughter, her smile, and the love she gave so freely will be missed more than words can say, but the memories she left behind will stay with all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.
Please join us to share stories, memories, laughter, and love as we celebrate Carolyn’s life on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Dunnville Legion. Everyone whose life was touched by Carolyn is welcome.
