Jakob is predeceased by his loving wife Adrienne, his parents Jacob and Hendriktje, and his brothers William and Harmen. Jake leaves behind his sister Martha Haviland and sister in laws Betty Mulder and Brenda Mulder. Jake will be missed by the many nieces, nephews and family in Holland he leaves behind.
Jake spent his entire career doing what he loved, driving his rig. Even after retirement he loved to drive. Jake had a passion for his scooters and loved to take others on trail rides with them. Jake was also a strong believer in his faith and valued his Christian beliefs above all.

Sincere sympathy to the family of Jake on his sudden but peaceful passing. Jake was a very loyal supporter of our Hartford School Reunion in 2010 and our continued gatherings over the years. He made the trip from Wainfleet and faithfully attended every event.

We are so sorry to hear of Jake’s passing. Jake often stopped by the shop for either a scooter fix or an ingenious can opener fix to get the scooter percolating (in his words). We often had a coffee with him and a chat about the messed up world (his words). His frequent sunset emails and videos just for fun. Our dogs will miss his visits with sometimes odd and yummy out of the usual treats. Our thoughts are with your family. Keep your memories close and share them often.
To the family and friends of Jake. Or deepest condolences. I’ve come to know Jake over the years. From building a log splitter from the landing gear of a trailer, to spending time in a truck cab together. Yes he gave me a ear full for not turning the jakebrake off going into a town. To helping him crank up some frozen landing gear. Catching up to a truck in New York State that had no trailer lights. Yeah it was Jake. Stopping by his house to see how he was doing. Or seeing him going down hwy way #3 on his mobile scooter pulling a trailer of batteries to make it to town and back. You have driven your final mile Jake. Rest always in Jesus’s loving arms.

Although I never met Jake in person we were friends. We met through the Forum at http://www.hankstruckpictures.com and later on Facebook. Jake enjoyed talking of his days driving the trucks and the history he knew of the trucking industry and of the Dunnville area. I was blessed to have known him and will miss him and all the things he would send me.
Jake will be in Heaven; he never had any doubt.

Dear Family and Friends of Jake,
Condolences on his passing. It was a big shock when I read the message of his death on Facebook. I never met Jake live but we have been in touch since 2015 via Facebook and email. Jake and my mother are cousins. Jake’s mother Hendriktje was my grandfather’s sister.
Jake has emailed me many stories and photos about his childhood in the Netherlands and the departure of his family to Canada. Jake made a nice surprise for me when he mailed me an envelope. Inside the envelope was a notebook containing a diary written by Jake’s father Jacob. He describes how they experienced the last weeks of the Second World War on a farm in the north of the Netherlands.
Jake wanted me to get the diary, he wanted it to go back to the Netherlands. I translated the English texts and called newspapers to see if they were interested. A newspaper reporter wanted to use parts of the diary for a report in his newspaper and for a book about the war that he was writing. I sent Jake pictures of the newspaper and the book. Jake was very happy that his father’s story would not be left in a cupboard but could now be read by others.
I heard from Jake’s messages and photos that two girls stayed with the Mulder family after the war. One of the girls was Sjaan from Rotterdam. I googled her name and found a phone number. I called her and Sjaan and I have been in touch ever since. And Sjaan and Jake have been in touch since then via Facebook and email. Very nice to get to know Sjaan and to hear her stories. Sjaan was the one who called me last Monday to tell me that she had read on Facebook that Jake was no longer alive. She has very fond memories of the time on the farm and the great contact she has always kept with the Mulder family.
Jake sent me many films that his brother Harmen used to make during his visits in the Netherlands. To my delight, these were videos of my grandparents, other relatives, and also my mother and her brother when they were teenagers. So nice to see those moving film images from the fifties and sixties.
I really enjoyed hearing about my old relatives through Jake over the years. I am grateful to him for the stories he has shared with me. My condolences to all of you with his loss.
Kind regards from Greet Dwarshuis (Netherlands)
Jake never missed a day to visit Mudcat Bowling Centre to use the internet to catch up on news and his family abroad. Everyday I would reach at the alley around 12pm, Jake’s red caravan would be parked in the parking lot with his half window down and it always gave us a sense of security that someone of our own was there in the property.
I didn’t have a personal touch with Jake but will remember his generous smile and wave at me every time he saw me.
May lord Jesus rest him in peace.
Dear Jake’s family and friends. Condolences on his death. We are very shocked by the unexpected passing of Jake. We had a lot of contact through Facebook and e-mail, a lot with exchanging old photos and collected many memories, I got to know him from the age of 7. Children from the city were allowed to stay with other people for a while after the war so that they could recuperate. I was one of those children and I lived on the farm with his parents, the Mulder family, for a while and had a very good time there, now I am 82 years old, and we’ve always kept in touch.
After Jake emigrated to Canada with his parents and brothers and sister, Jake’s parents arranged me a new holiday address at the Mulder family in Broek in Waterland, also with a farm. I had many nice summer holidays there and many beautiful memories of which I have always been very grateful to them. Our condolences to you all with his loss. Kind regards from Ger and Sjaan Kramer. (the Netherlands)
To Jake’s family & many friends,I wish to extend my deepest sympathy for your loss.Jake was not only my friend, he was also my brother in Christ. We met at the Niagara Christadelphian Ecclesia many years ago. When his wife Adrianne passed away, he would go to visit my mother who was also his sister in Christ and bring her tulips 🌷 he delivered on many of his trucking journeys or would drop by to see her with coffee and donuts in hand, some literature and great conversation. When my mom passed away,I found out Jake was on Factbook and we kept in touch on a regular basis. He was always offering to help in any way he could because that’s just who he was.He will surely be missed in this life, but look forward to see him in Gods’ coming Kingdom.Sleep in sweet peace my dear Brother until we meet again, love from sister Monica Buliung.
The world is truly a sadder place now that you have passed.
Jake you were one of the most genuine, kindest and unique person I have ever had the privilege to know.
Until we meet again.
I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jake. I first got to know Jake as a young boy, it was in the late 1960’s when he and my dad drove for Zavitz’s Brothers Transport out of Wainfleet. My first memory of Jake was meeting him at the pier in Albany NY on a Sunday evening. He, Dad and several other drivers from Zavitz and other companies would drive down on Sunday afternoon to be in line to load trailers full of banana’s off of ocean ships first thing Monday morning. Jake would hold a prayer circle each evening for those that were inclined. Several more times from Albany to Boston to NYC and Baltimore, I attended Jake’s bible readings. Rest in Peace Mr. Mulder
My heartfelt condolences on the sudden passing of Jake! We have been long time friends! Sorry to hear this! His next moment will be to see Jesus!
