Stanley James Lyddiatt – April 24, 1947 to November 21, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stan Lyddiatt, in his 76th year.
Beloved father to his daughter Kim Gifford, father-in-law to Shaun Gifford and proud Grandpa to Spencer Gifford, and to his son James Lyddiatt (Natalie), grandfather to Amber (Greg) and Jake (Carly) and great-grandfather to Thea and Evelyn. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Beatrice Lyddiatt. Survived by his siblings Ted, Esther Elshaw, Ron, Dave, Gordon and Gerald, and nephews Rick, Brad, Mike, Adam, Cory, Kurt and Neal.
Stan owned and operated his excavating company out of Wellandport for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering with never ending projects, racing his van, playing hockey, hunting, touring on his Harley Davidson, snowmobiling, and helping others. He helped bring home stranded children from school during the Blizzard of ‘77, was a Volunteer Fire Fighter and a member of the Odd Fellows.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion, 305 Queen Street, Dunnville, on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Friends and family are welcome to attend any time between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. Condolences to all the family and all that knew Stan.
When l knew him it was back in late 60s and early 70s. Such a fun loving person always with a big smile on his face. He was an expert when it came excavating new basements -he dug the basement for my 1st house. I was so reminder of Stan when I met his nephew Cory in
in latter years. Rest in peace.

Stan was my first cousin. His mother, Beatrice, was sister to my mother, Doris. I remember Stan as a happy, dimple-faced boy, who liked to tease his siblings and cousins. He was quick with the wise-cracks and the inside jokes. My favourite memory of Stan was when he and his brothers roared into the driveway on their Harleys, at Betty’s restaurant. It was my Dad’s 80th birthday celebration and my kids were in awe as these bad-ass dudes climbed off their choppers and greeted us. I have many happy memories of visits to their farm growing up. I am not surprised to learn that Stan was a volunteer fire-fighter and that he helped rescue children during a blizzard. He was always a can-do guy, loyal to his family, with a spirit that helped brighten the world. He will be missed.

Well stan was a man of do what i say not as i do. Always available to lend a hand. He taught Spence so may things and was always here for Kim and family. We will miss u Stan the Man. Rest easy there is no more pain
Hearing of the passing of my cousin Stan Lyddiatt reminds me of his great smile. At family get-togethers, he was always the funniest person in the room. A bright light and a good soul. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Stan.
