Lupson, John Frederick.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Frederick Lupson of Dunnville, Ontario, who passed away suddenly and peacefully in his sleep at home on January 14, 2022, at the age of 82.
John was born in Toronto, Ontario, and spent his early years and youth growing up in London, Ontario. He was a strong advocate and deeply committed to education having earned four university degrees. John was an elementary school teacher for the Haldimand County and Grand Erie Board of Education for 26 years, from 1975-2001, teaching at J.L. Mitchener, Anna Melick, Central and Fairview public schools in Dunnville. He was very fond of his former colleagues and teachers and was always thrilled to chat and catch up with them during his retirement years, even more impressed when they recognized him during his grey hair days.
John was a devout Christian and enjoyed preaching. He cherished his 2 years as Reverend at the Selkirk Baptist Church. John was also a Certified Lay Preacher for the United Church of Canada in Niagara, where he spread the word of God for over 10 years.
John was a wonderfully talented ballroom dancer. He relished and was very fond of the regular and special ballroom dancing events and even stretched his talents to teaching the dancing techniques. John will be deeply missed by his fellow dancers and partners at the Polish Hall and Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 60, both in Burlington.
John is survived by his two loving sons, Karl, and Greg and his wife and three loving grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his older brother Bill and his dear and caring relatives in the Bradenton (Florida) area and the Girling family of Dunnville. John will be lovingly remembered by his many friends and neighbours and has asked everyone to remember the happy and positive moments and time he spent with them and to treasure those moments
Visitation at JW Hart Funeral Home, Dunnville on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm followed by a Private Family Service. Due to current Covid19 Protocols those wishing to join the family are asked to RSVP by calling (905)774-6335. Masks and social distancing are required at all times.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Lupson’s passing. He taught me grades 4 and 5 at Canboro Central School 1984 and 1985. He was my favorite teacher! He was understanding, caring and a great teacher. May he Rest In Peace and Fly with the Angels. He will be missed by many. 💙

My father, Jim, really enjoyed your father while attending the Grace United Church in Dunnville and your father spoke well of dad. Your father and I had many discussions of life during coffee and sometimes at breakfast over the years. Mother(Bobbie) and I will deeply miss your dad’s periodic visits … please accept and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the entire family.

So sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was never my teacher but I was his seamstress. I’ve seen John plenty in the last couple years. He loved to tell me about all his ball room dancing and he loved that so much. My dog’s will miss him stopping in with treats for them as well. Always a good conversation. I just recently met his son that was here over the holidays (John was trying to buy more pants, I know from the alterations, his closet had plenty) he was most happy to be out showing him the town !!

I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We were neighbours for 19 years, and shared many visits over the back fence. For many years, he had beautiful gardens, and shared his plants and gardening tips. He was a great neighbour.

to Mr. Lupsons family and friends sincerest condolences on the loss of a great man. We, my husband and I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Lupson through him teaching our daughter when she was younger. A great memory I have of him is when he called us to ask about a note my daughter had written and signed my name lol. She got caught as it was written in crayon. Spread your wings and fly high John
I had the pleasure of working at fairview with John was always up for a great laugh or mischief of some sort. His students were his pride and joy, he’d love nothing better than a good debate. All the best boys ur dad was so very proud of u both.
For more than a few years I taught across the hall from John at Canboro Central. I remember being shocked at how angry he was with one of his students. This was not usual for John. Next year I inherited the same student and this student got a hold of my tie and would not let go. I got another student to give me a pair of scissors and had to cut my tie away to get free . Then I understood why John was angry.

We are deeply sorry for your loss of your dad …always spoke so highly of his boys. I remember us living below him on 500 Queen and how he was so kind to us and our young ones.. his teaching and his adventures were always interesting a very interesting man..Rip John 🙏

He use to come into the store almost daily for milkshakes to bring to the Girling’s and we would always have a chit chat. He was a wonderful man and a very great and dedicated teacher.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lupson. He was my grade 4 teacher at Fairview. I’ll always remember how happy he was, he loved what he did and it showed. I saw him about a week ago and he still remembered me 20 years later as well as my brother. He will forever be missed!

John Lupson was a true friend and educator who loved to share results of his personal and community projects, as well as results of his medical research that helped promote good health and life extension for his family and friends. John was an avid ballroom dancer who, with a beautiful lady in his arms, would have dazzled the likes of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. John was very proud of his talented sons Karl and Greg whose accomplishments were often shared over coffees. Even though John will be missed, his fame will continue to be part of our stories share over coffee in the future.
My deepest condolences to friends and family. Mr. Lupson taught me at Canboro Central School in the mid 80’s and he was such a caring gentle giant. I have a couple of very funny memories of him, he would put me at the front of the classroom seating as I was short and when he would get annoyed with the class he would take his yard stick and smack it on the front desk to get the attention of the class and several times he didn’t know his strength that the yard stick would snap in half and I would catch the other half. Mr.Deer was the principal at that time and I would have to take the pieces of yard stick to the office to replace with a new one. I’m sure our budget for yard sticks our class year was through the roof. Another time I was outside playing tether ball and it was in the winter, and I didn’t realize he was behind me and I tripped him and he went down flat on his back just in time for the bell to ring, so I ran to the office to get Mr. Deer and our class watched from the window as a few staff had to help Mr.Lupson off the ground. He had to go home that day and wasn’t in the rest of the week so we had a supply teacher and all my classmates were upset with me for tripping him. I will never forget these funny memories of Mr. Lupson as he was a wonderful teacher. RIP Mr. Lupson ♥️🙏
John has been a wonderful and dear friend and dancing partner for many years. It is truly a loss for many of us, who would enjoy John’s company and discuss any topic under the sun…..a remarkable and kind soul always willing to help his fellow man/woman through any difficult times. Rest in peace until we meet again 💙

I knew John for more than 20 years, danced with him several times over the years, and had many visits and chats that I will always remember. He was a special person and I will miss him along with a lot of other people in the dance world. My sincere condolences go out to his two sons, whom he was very, very proud of for their many accomplishments and their devotion to their Dad. You can be sure, Karl and Greg, that he will continue to look down on you with love and continuing pride for your future.

I am sorry to hear this news and my condolences go out to Johns family and loved ones. We always shared pleasant conversations while at the various dances.
I very much enjoyed visiting with John when he came to the farm to pick up butter tarts and pickles to give away to friends. He always brought treats for our dog, Zoey, and stayed to visit a few minutes. Condolences to the family.

Dan & I were saddened to hear of John’s passing. We send our prayers & condolences to his family.
John and I taught together at Fairview School for many years. He was always ready with a cheerful ‘Good Morning’.
After retirement, we would cross paths when out walking, shopping or watching baseball games at Kinsmen Park. We would reminisce about our many, and varied, experiences at Fairview, including our shared love of music.
I spoke with John just last week when we met at Hauser’s. As always, he greeted me with a smile, evident even through his mask.

I am in disbelief for the loss of my dance partner and close friend. He was a great dancer who also loved to teach it to others. He was well loved by many, and I will miss him dearly. He always mentioned how much he loved and was proud of his two sons Karl and Greg. He was not only intelligent, but worked extremely hard towards achieving his goals. We will remember his wonderful and gentle soul and will forever be in ours hearts. Rest In Peace.
I have so many fond memories of John when he was our Pastor at Selkirk Baptist Church. His sons ,Greg and Karl ,and my sons were very good pals. John had a good life and he will be missed and had definitely earned his wings. Fly, dear friend.

I worked with John for many years at Fairview School and he was a good friend to me and my family. John had a great sense of humour and we shared many laughs. I learned a lot about John’s early life that I did not know when I watched his funeral service on-line today. His accomplishments under such adverse conditions are truly amazing. But some people maybe did not know that John was close to death in his 40’s. A thyroid condition was diagnosed by his doctor but it took some time for John to recover. But he took advantage of his second chance at life in so many ways. He was a wonderful teacher. He was a life-long learner. If he didn’t know the answer to something he made phone calls; he wrote letters; he spoke with people. And he tried to change things for the better. Then he discovered dance and made another group of friends. Condolences to Greg and Karl and all of John’s family and friends.
We were saddened to read of John’s death. He always had a ready smile and a story. We have many memories of teaching together at Canboro Central (Kate) and Fairview Ave. (Nick) Public Schools. He always spoke so proudly of his sons. Our sincere condolences.
