In Loving Memory of Theresa Isabell Jacob (nee MacLean) August 18th, 1929 – June 20th, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Jacob, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She peacefully entered into rest with her devoted family by her side. Born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. She spoke fondly of her time back home and the upbringing she had there. She travelled to Ontario for work in 1952 where she eventually settled and started her own family. She was a devoted wife to the late John F. Jacob for over four decades. Together, they built a warm and nurturing home, creating countless cherished memories for their children and grandchildren. Theresa was a loving mother to her six children: Joseph Jacob, Mary (Don) Ecker, John Paul (Jennifer) Jacob, James (Susie) Jacob, Jeffrey (Kim) Jacob and Terri (late Harry) Jacob. She loved and adored her 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their extended families. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Livingston and Anne Silverthorne.
Throughout her life, Theresa was known for her unwavering faith and generosity. She was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Dunnville and a life member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 50 years. Theresa was a sports enthusiast and travelled all over southern Ontario and beyond to cheer on her children’s hockey and baseball teams. Later she enjoyed watching the Habs and the Blue Jays on TV and never passed up a chance to get to the casino. Sunday spaghetti dinners at her house were something the whole family cherished and her grandchildren all have fond memories of their time being babysat by her.
Theresa spent the past three years of her life residing at Grandview Lodge in Dunnville. Though her time there was brief, we always knew she was well looked after and cared for. We would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to all the Hillview staff at Grandview Lodge for the loving, compassionate care shown for our mom. A Family Funeral Mass was held at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church followed by burial at St Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
We love you, mom. Your memory will live on in us always.
