Jacob, Joseph. At the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, Dunnville.
Joe Jacob loving father to Michelle and Adam. Extremely proud Cubba (grandfather) to Justyce Corbett. Joe will be lovingly remembered by all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and their families. He was a very proud Uncle because family was everything. His parents established Jacob’s Confectionary in 1905 and it quickly became a a main attraction for many. Famous for their Cherry Coke, Roasted Peanuts, Fries and Gravy and eventually the Juke Box.
Jacob’s was woven into the fabric of life in Dunnville, you were always welcomed with big smiles and open arms and unlimited generosity. It was home to Terrier Breakfasts, Mudcat Hockey meetings as Joe was on the Executive, “Town Hall” meetings at the first table where I am certain many of the world’s problems were solved over a cup of his famous coffee! Joe was the steady beat at the drums for the band On The Wagon which many will remember from the Mudcat Festival Parades. Joe was a surrogate father and grandfather to so many people, he was a practical joker and a genuine friend. Joe was a long standing Habs Fan and ready to talk sports at a the drop of a hat.
Predeceased by his parents Richard and Mary Jacob, his brothers John, Tom, George and sisters Marie and Lila. Joe was very proud of his Lebanese Heritage instilled in him by his parents and extended family. Very special thanks to Dr. Kobah and nursing staff for the wonderful care you provided to Joe. Donations to Heart and Stroke (heartandstroke.ca) or the Hockey Canada Foundation (hockeycanada.ca) would be appreciated by the family.
Those who are Fully Vaccinated are welcome to visitation at JW Hart Funeral Home, Dunnville (905)774-6335 on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Dunnville on Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 11:30 am. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com

Truly a great loss to the family in Dunnville and wish to offer my sincere sympathies to his family there. Indeed the Jacob family with Joe as a premium member had been part of our family, the Kneider’s, in Dunnville for many years from his parents to his brothers and sisters. So sorry to hear about Joe. First got to know him as a kid when he worked behind that beautiful counter at Jacobs, making my favourite chocolate marshmallow sundae. Loved seeing and hearing him in On the Wagon many times. A wonderful man with a wonderful smile.
So, so sad to hear this news, what a great guy, never heard a bad word from him out about him. Just a true gentleman. Many fond memories, always time to shoot the breeze. as a kid I remember going into Jacobs and for a quarter Joe would let me purchase 45’s previoulsly played in the juke box.
I will never forget..his generosity …as a young kid to me a quarter was a lot of money and it wasnt till many years later I could actually buy new..I still have many of those old 45’s….my condolences to family and friends..Joe was a Dunnville icon

I’m so thankful to have known Joe and shared his love of music. When he sang, “What a Wonderful World” it was plain that he meant it.

Joe was one of the first people I met when I moved to Dunnville. I would always see him at Flyers, and I often was invited to sit at the table. We talked a lot of hockey and how my father was a massive Habs fan and historian. Joe always called me “Nickel” when he saw me. And if will remain one of my fondest memories. My deepest and sincerest condolences to the family.
The only ball player in grade 8 who could hit the softball over the Lundy’s fence in centre field at Dunnville public school. Some things you never forget. A fun loving guy.

I don’t think I will ever get the taste of Joe’s fries and gravy out of my mouth, nor will I ever forget the beautiful little smile that was permanently etched on Joe’s face.

First thing entering the store, I would gaze at the candy counter … Joe come from out the grill and walk behind the counter and would scoop a little bag of “Ju Jubes” for me and mother ordered her Coke. I have wonderful memories of “Uncle Joe” and just thinking of him makes me smile. He was warm, affectionate and always ready with a joke or a story to tell. When I was a girl, visiting with my parents and siblings on our family trips to Dunnville, visiting Joe at the Jacob’s Confectionary was always on the list of things to look forward to. Yes the treats were good, but it was his genuine loving nature, and his enthusiasm to see us that I will remember most. My dad Jim shared many stories of their childhood exploits, and is comforting to think of them together again.

So many happy camping trips, family get togethers and Friday night dinners at Jacob’s and babysitting adventures with Michelle! Joe always knew how to make people feel special and had an amazing sense of humour. He was a special family friend, and he will truly be missed by all but indeed remembered fondly always.
