Douglas Edward “Doug” Jackson.
Passed peacefully on Sunday July 2, 2023 at the Hamilton General Hospital at the age of 60.
Doug Jackson beloved father of Nathan and Braedon. Survived by his sisters Debbie (Fred), Donna (John), Darlene (Parry) and their families. Predeceased by his parents Ted and Mary.
Doug was a dedicated volunteer firefighter and was very proud to be appointed as a Senator. Growing up in Dunnville Doug played Minor Hockey and enjoyed fishing, especially the voyages when both his father and sons could join him. The lure of the river led to his involvement with Boat Racing in Dunnville and across Canada and USA. Doug was lucky to be able to share his passion for motorsports with sons Nathan and Braedon on weekends while dirt car racing under the banner of Team Turner Racing.
Private cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday August 13, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Dunnville friends are welcome to join the family.. Memorial donations to the Dunnville Hospital & Healthcare Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com

RIP Doug, I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know Doug. Neighbours when we were kids, working together at Co-op, then on to the arena. Doug was an asset behind the bench to every team that had him as part of their coaching staff. He had a way of calming the bench by just being there. Until we meet again my dear friend.

Nathan and Braedon my deepest condolences for a very dear friend for close to 40 years.
I spent so many fun times with Barrel over the years.
Mainly through the Fire Dept and hockey.
When I started on the Fire Dept at the age of 24 Doug would have been 30 and he was already a very much respected Captain who took his job extremely serious and kept the men in his crew safe because of it.
We shared so many laughs together at the hall and I could write a book of all the fun and practical jokes played on each other.
However where our friendship really flourished was through the hockey team we both played for and loved.
Doug took over the old Lowbanks No Stars hockey team from John McArthur and within a couple of years we were to become The Erie Paving Sharks Hockey Club for the next 18 years.
As Doug got up around 40 he turned the club over to myself for about the final 8 years.
The laughs that were shared on the ice and within the dressing room will stay with me for a lifetime.
I am having a very difficult time ending this, so I will simply say
RIP my dear, dear friend.
You fought one helluva fight and now it’s time to rest.
Until we meet again, keep your stick on the ice and have fun with The Silver Fox and Billy Mac.
