Death
Funeral
Hart, John Warren Sr. Peacefully, on Wednesday October 19, 2022 in his 88th year.
John Hart Sr. beloved husband of over 50 years to the late Marg Hart. Predeceased by his precious granddaughter Megan (2008). Dearly loved father to John and his wife Leanne. Proud and loving Gramp to Duncan and Keshia, Drake and Bre, Davis, Mitch and Neesha. Great Grandpa of Megan, Teegan and Wyatt. John was the second child of the late Cecil and Mildred Hart and will be sadly missed by his older brother Bob Hart and younger brother Bill Hart (Linda) both of whom he admired and respected. Dear brother-in-law of Minnie Rigg. Predeceased by brother-in-laws John and Charlie Fuller, Bud and Fred Sutton, and sister-in-laws Beatrice Schooly and Marie Petker. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Missed and remembered by his good friend Tom Wallis. Life long friend to Lyle and Barb Shirton and countless others. I would be remiss if I did not mention his Work Family, to Brian, Vic and all the guys at the shop I thank you sincerely, for you were his motivation, entertainment, support system but most of all you were his friends.
John was an accomplished athlete, garnering championships in Football, Baseball and Hockey. He played many seasons for the Dunnville Mudcats, Port Colborne Sailors and Port Dover Sailors Intermediate teams. He was very proud of his individual and team awards, but his most treasured trophies were the friends he made along the way. John was an Ontario Scholar excelling in Mathematics and Science which served him well in his profession as a Mechanical Draftsman who could not only draw it, but he could make it work! Everything he did he did to the best of his ability, no half measures. He may have been small in stature but he cast a very large shadow! A dedicated member of McCallum Chapter No. 29 and Amity Lodge No. 32 regardless of the chair he occupied he always delivered his work with fervency and zeal. Thank you to Dr. Ezzat, Dr. Stavro, Dr. Remington and all the caring nurses and support staff at the Dunnville Hospital for their compassion.
Friends may call at JW Hart Funeral Home, Dunnville on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Masonic Memorial Service Sunday 6:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday October 24, 2022 at 11:00 am followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Dunnville. Remember John when he was a main stay compliment of the Dunnville contingent on the champion OHA, Port Colborne Sailors and I was a rookie radio guy who covered the games. Played against him earlier and the champion Canadian Tire men’s fastball team as a teenager. He was quite an athlete even in his later years and a champion true and true, something he passed on to the Hart boys.
May he rest in peace.

There isn’t much I can remember from my childhood but what I do remember clearly is John Sr. coaching me in minor hockey, joking in the dressing room and getting frustrated with us on the ice when we took slapshots instead of shooting the puck the way he wanted us too. He was a great man who led us to an OMHA championship and it’s one of my best childhood memories!
John always had a cheeky smile and we could always count on a respectful conversation that usually ended in talking about hockey, Dougie, Davis or Marli.
John, Leeanne and family please know you are in our thoughts at this time. The whole community is grieving the loss of this wonderful man!
John, Cathy, Marli and Amanda
I’m so very sorry for your loss John was a great guy I remember the baseball and hockeys games they attended and dances RIP Hugs prayers
Sending condolences to your family John.
So very sorry for John’s passing. There are some personalities that you think will live forever and to me, John was one. Some of the best moments of my childhood were spent in the dressing room, on the ice or on the bench with John Sr at the helm. He didn’t just teach us boys how to play hockey, he helped teach us how to grow up to someday become men. As an adult living today, I look back and appreciate things much more now than I did as a kid who really didn’t know much. Thanks “Mr. Hart” for all the years you gave to us (to me), for being such a strong leader and teacher and for the kindness you showed over the years when we’d run into each other up town, away from the arena. How awesome is it that a little boy’s hockey coach still remembered him throughout the years. A last thought: throughout my teenage driving years, my brothers and I would always, year after year, drive to our Mom’s house in Niagara late Christmas Eve. Before we left we always wanted to see “Mr. Hart Santa Claus” on the corner at Central Park. We loved his jolly laugh and the short conversations we had each year. To this day, when I’m in the area on Christmas Eve, I drive by that corner at Central Park, stop along the side of the road and think back. I swear I even hear him say, “Hey Stevie, go up to the house, Maggy will have a drink for you.”
Dear John, Leanne and family, Doug and I are very saddened to hear of your Dad’s passing. May you find comfort in knowing he is reunited with the loves of his life. He has left very fond memories for you to cherish. Big hugs!
John, Leanne and family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May you find comfort in the cherished memories and countless stories that will be shared by family and friends.
John and family,
Sad to hear of your Dad’s passing. Your Dad was always kind and had a greeting or smile for me when I saw him.
Hold close all those great memories.
Sending sincerest condolences to you and your family.
Thinking of you and your family during this time. My sincere condolences
