Wilfred “Brock” Gains . October 6th 1954 – January 27th 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilfred “Brock” Gains, who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law and friend to many. He passed suddenly at the age of 69 after a brief and hard fought battle with cancer, on Saturday January 27th, 2024.
He is survived by his loving wife Tina Gains, his daughters Danielle (Laura), Madison (Michael) and Alison (Dalton), his young grandchildren Josiah, Hannah and April, his sister Anne Miron (Paul), his in-laws Deanna and Gordon Dickhout and his brother-in-law Barry (Claire). Predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Brock Gains, and brothers William and Doug.
Over his career he worked at multiple factories in Haldimand-Norfolk and Niagara as a 2nd class stationary engineer. Of the many factories he worked in, his daughters would likely say that LifeSavers and Bryers Ice Cream were at the top of the list. He finished off his career at Jungbunzlauer in Port Colborne.
This past year has strengthened their already close family ties and was filled with many joyous memories. Among Brock’s many pastimes he had an interest in computer technology and was known as a bit of PC handyman. Along with this he had acquired a love for genealogy and had developed an extensive family tree database. A hobby that allowed him to make new contacts and go for many day trips collecting research.Even near the end Brock never allowed the illness to dampen his sense of humour. He remained high spirited with a positive attitude throughout. His commitment to family was always his number one priority, and of course his dedication to his Miami Dolphins was unwavering. There is no doubt he will be watching this year’s Super Bowl from up above.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to his brothers-in-law Paul and Barry. As well as Dr Yelamanchili and all the supportive staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre for doing exactly what was needed without hesitation and his family physician Dr. Kamouna for his understanding. The paramedics who responded, for their care and professionalism, the firemen for their support and the emergency room staff for all their efforts.Visitation will be held at JW Hart Funeral Home, Dunnville on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm with Funeral and Committal Services in the Chapel on Friday February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial donations be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre ~ Niagara Health Foundation. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com
