Edie, Norma Pearl (nee House) . March 20, 1917 ~ July 26, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce her passing. Norma is survived by her children Ken Edie (Jan), and Glady Ann (Edie) Broad. Proud and loving Grandma to James (Patricia), Peggy-Jo, Thomas (Candace), Ken, Randy (Lori) and 9 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Special Aunt to Judy Dell and Byron House (Donna) whom she loved dearly and her many other relatives too numerous to mention.
Norma spent most of her life in her beloved Dunnville. She was known by many as she was always there for others, volunteering, teaching ceramics or helping at Grace United Church. Norma was predeceased by her husband Reginald, granddaughter Kathy-Jo and so-in-law Thomas. She will be greatly missed. Thanks go out to the staff at Edgewater Gardens, her friend Lorna Dashwood and to her grandson Randy and his wife Lori for their care and support. We were so sad to hear of Normas passing. We loved her. She was always a spark of life at church and in the places she lived. I so enjoyed being able to get her to sing and play along with my Free Spirit group and have so missed being able to see her during this pandemic. I so well remember especially singing for her 100th birthday celebration. We sang her favourite song..the one she told us she and Reg sang together as they left on the motorbike after their wedding—That’s. The story of..that’s the glory of love. She is the epitome of ‘a life well lived’

I remember Norma through the United Church Choir when I was a member many years ago. She had a very nice Alto voice.

Aunt Norm:Everytime I say that I smile. Norm was my father’s ( Bob Corbett’s) sister. When we lived in Ottawa ,Aunt Norm, usually accompanied by her partner in crime, Aunt Helen, would come to visit. Unfortunately over the years we lost touch but many, many years ago my husband and I made a spontaneous trip to Dunnville and we took Aunt Norm, Aunt Helen and Aunt Ruth to the Chinese restaurant in Welland for dinner. My husband always smiles when we talk about it. She was a wonderful, caring person and I am so pleased that she was in my life.
Aunt Norm was a huge influence on my life as a child, and into my adult years. Her sincere compassion for others, love of family, and adventurous spirit were true examples for all of us in the family on how to live your best life. She leaves this earth a better place for having been with us for so many years.

Norma was such a lovely person. She and my mom were great pals and would chat about Dunnville history. They knew most of it.
Mom and Norma sang in Grace United choir and I can see them still filing into the choir loft on Sunday mornings.
