DRUERY, Beverly Melvin “Bev”.Passed away on March 31 in his 87th year at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, Dunnville, Ontario
Dearly loved husband of Carolyn (Cadman) for 65 years. Loving father to Bill Druery of Dunnville, Linda and husband Bert Chilton of Kitchener, and Jeff Druery of Caledonia. Cherished Grandpa to Lindsay Druery, Courtney and Cody Kelly, Trevor Druery, Kate and Marc Fournier, Kristen Chilton and partner Alex Van Esch. Special Great Grandpa to Lucas, Liam and Austin Kelly and Maxwell Fournier. Fondly remembered by his dear, life long friend Orn Snyder, Julie Druery, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Melvin and Della Druery and brother John Druery.
Bev was one of the founding members of the Glanbrook Old Pumpers, Old Timers Hockey League and a dedicated Glanbrook minor hockey coach for many years. Following 25 years of farming in Binbrook, Bev, with Carol’s steadfast help, enjoyed many years growing and selling Christmas trees on Songbird Tree Farm in Dunnville, curling in Cayuga, and traveling. Bev was an avid follower of world and local news and often loved a sometimes spirited conversation on politics, the economy and world events. Most of all he loved time with his family.
A very special thanks to Dr. Kobah and the 3rd, floor doctors and nurses for their exceptional care.
The family will honour Bev’s life with visitation and service at JW Hart Funeral Home, Dunnville on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Friday from 10am to service time at 11:00 am. Interment 3:00 pm at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Stoney Creek friends are welcome to join the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation ( dhhf.ca ) or in kind donations to Glanbrook or Dunnville Minor Hockey Associations would be appreciated by the family. Sad to hear of Bev’s passing. May he RIP. Carolyn, the summers of 64, and 65, (14 -15), and the inbetweens, are fond memories of me working on your farm. from baby sitting, to learning to drive the truck, and equipment, and Bev’s teaching me how to side the house, and other skills, and you feeding us lunch and dinner. Stories I tell to this day. The work enabled me to buy my first new guitar. And because of that purchase, I am still playing to this day. I do about two shows a year. And, it all started when I went and bought that Harmony guitar. I thank you and Bev for that opportunity. He’s in god’s hands now. My condolences.
Allan & l are sincerely sorry to learn of Bev’s passing. We have many fond memories of curling days in Cayuga and visiting your tree farm when our kids were younger to cut that perfect tree. Bev’s great sense of humour, large as life smile, kind heart and honest manner are what made him extra-special and a pleasure to know. We will think of you today and in the days ahead.
