Jennie  Baker

In Beloved memory of Jennie Elizabeth Baker (nee Henderson) was born December 22, 1940 in Hamilton Ontario and died October 14, 2025 in Northland Pointe Long Term Care located in Port Colborne Ontario, at the age of 84.

Jennie grew up in a Navy family where her father was stationed in Halifax Nova Scotia when Jennie was the age of two. Jennie was very involved with family and assisted her mother daily after school as her father was abroad during military endeavors.  This is where she learned her love for the ocean, cooking and baking, also community dances where she met her husband, Ronald Baker.

Jennie and Ronald married February 22, 1956 and the running joke was that they had two anniversaries. The minister that signed their wedding document signed February 14, 1956. Jennie and Ronald had four children in Low Sackville Nova Scotia, two boys and two girls. The economy was getting bad at that time and Jennie been pregnant with their fifth child decided to travel to Upper Canada (Hamilton) in the summer of 1964.

Jennie was a do-er. If you wanted something done everyone knew Jennie would help and take care of it, whether it was baking, working or watching extra children. Jennie had active roles in her church while in Nova Scotia as a Sunday school teacher. Jennie was a loving mother and was also blessed with a green thumb and always knew the tricks for growing more tomatoes or how to transplant flowers. Jennie worked many different types of jobs once her children were in school full time. Jennie would also keep herself busy knitting hats, sweaters mitts and craft as in her later years Jennie and Ronald had a craft business when they lived in the hamlet of Bass Lake just past Owen sound. Most will fondly remember Jennie for her beautiful smile and also her delicious pies. Her pies were sold to a restaurant in the Hamilton area before Jennie retired and moved up North.

Jennie is survived by her loving husband Ronald D Baker, her two sons (daughter in-law) and three daughters (sons in-laws), fifteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren throughout Canada. Additionally, Jennie has surviving sister in-laws, brother in-laws and many nieces and nephews, she will be greatly missed by all. For Heaven has been awarded a new angel and we have been blessed to have known her.
