Allan Augustine
Allan died quietly at home with his wife, Monika, and son, Mark, by his side on Friday, February 9th. His daughter, Rebekka, and brother, Frank Augustine, were able to say their goodbyes before he was cremated.
Allan will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law, Theresa Neheli, her husband Karl, and their children, Stefanie and David; and by Allan’s nephews, Paul (Kim) and Michael (Janet) Hoelzli and niece Jennifer Jenkins (Todd) and their sons. Allan’s cousins, Jan and Ian Cowie, held a special place in his heart, along with cousins Joanne Misener, Debbie and George Lloyd, and Douglas Misener and family, Jackie and husband Keith Bourns, Sharon and Max Nichols, Bill Shales and family. Allan is also remembered by his cousins Allen and Calvin Biddle and their families, Robin Augustine and his wife Esther, and other members of the Augustine and Hoelzli families. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Erma Augustine; father- and mother-in-law, Martin and Maria Hoelzli; brother-in-law, Walter Hoelzli and his wife Irmgard; brother-in-law Martin Hoelzli; uncle, Ellis Augustine; cousin and life-long friend, Charlie Misener.
Allan lived most of his life in Port Colborne and shared operation of Augustine’s Farm, Dairy, and Ice Creamery with his parents, brother, wife, and children. He was known and respected by neighbours and colleagues and was always ready to help when called upon. He left more than one Christmas dinner early to clear snow from neighbours’ driveways so they could attend church. With his strong sense of family, Allan acted as an unbreakable bond between the extended branches of his Augustine and Misener trees.
Allan and Monika moved to Dunnville in 2008, and Allan died with the view of the lake he enjoyed so much.
Celebration of life will be held at the Dunnville Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142, 305 Queen Street Saturday May 25, 2024. Friends are welcome to drop in from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Online condolences can be given at jwhartfuneralhome.com

Dear Monika and family,
I was so sorry to hear about Allan’s passing. The upside, if there is such a thing is that he and the Augustine family had a wonderful impact on my childhood. Lorne, Erma, Allan and Frank were a big part of my favorite summer vacations in Port Colborne. They likely barely remember me, but I do them. Their farm and dairy were a wonderful experience for me and the Richardson brothers. I can still hear the sound of their voices! I was between 8 and 12 years old and “helping” on the farm was the best experience that I had growing up.
Well Okay, I still haven’t forgiven Frank for running me over with the hay wagon, hahaha! I limped all the way back to Gramme Carbert’s.
Allan you will be missed.

My wife Lucille, daughter Lori and I moved back to this area after 40 years in the West. Because of that we were able to see Allan shortly before he died. I’m glad we did. The Augustine family have been important friends of ours for 2 generations.
When I was a child I loved to spend a day on their farm. To me they were so lucky to be able to work with cows. I didn’t realize until later that it was seriously hard work.

Back a number of years ago when Frank and Allan were quite a bit younger, we used to enjoy your visits for coffee after you had been in Welland, or when you would come in the evening so we could all catch up on the latest news. I was so fortunate to have met Allan and Monika as well as Mark. It was always a pleasure to come in and be greeted with a cheerful hello from Allan. I wish I had been given more time to know Allan…but for the time I did know him , it was enough to see how loved he was by his family. Oh how he loved them too.
I will always be thankful for the privilege of being one of his caregivers. You will surely be missed by many Dear Friend.
