It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Danford Johnson at home on Sunday, January 6th 2019 in his 83rd year.
Dan was comforted by his loving wife Sylvia of 62 years. He will forever be missed by his children Rick (Cheryle), Tammy Robinson (Daniel), Cindy Murphy (Greg), Stacy Stanley (Mark), and Darcy (Carolyn). Remembered by his 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandson Lane and siblings Allan, Holly and Joel, as well as many wonderful in-laws throughout the years. He was a special brother to Merna Cooper and Merry Dennis along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Survived by two brothers, Claire and Bruce (Florence) and by his sister-in-laws Elaine and Martha.
Dan was very proud of his 35 years volunteering with the Auxiliary OPP, where he retired under the rank of Inspector. He’s remembered by many as a handyman, always shingling a roof or doing any odd jobs to help friends and family in his younger days. Together, Dan and Sylvia raised their family in the house he built on George Street.  After 50 years they sold their home and enjoyed many winters in Florida at their trailer. Dan was proud to work for many years building kitchen cabinets alongside his oldest son, Rick, at Exotic Woodwork in Dunnville. He was passionate about his card games and loved playing until the very end. Always known for his jokes and endless wit. He will be missed as much as he was loved.
Cremation has taken place with a private  family service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Dan’s memory to the Dunnville Hospital & Healthcare Foundation ~ Emergency Department.  Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Dunnville Hospital and Dan’s many home care providers for their care and compassion.
