Barrett, Hurcel Russell. Passed away peacefully at Grandview Lodge with his Grandsons by his side on Friday March 6, 2015 in his 86th year.

Survived by his wife Dorothy and his four children Allan, Gregory, Linda and Leslie. Proud grandfather of eleven and great grandfather of four. Russ was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters and is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings Jean and Bob.

Russ was born on February 13, 1930 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to Thomas and Gertrude Barrett. In 1950 he married Dorothy Gwendolyn Milton of Brantford, Ontario and together raised their four children in Hamilton. It was here in 1958 that Russ began his life long employment with Firestone Canada on Burlington Street. After 29 years of dedicated service, Russ and Dorothy retired to the family cottage to live their well deserved dream life in the Haliburton Highlands. Many joyful memories were forged there. Russ was very talented and skilled having the courage to tackle almost anything from electrical to plumbing to carpentry with his biggest accomplishment being the family cottage. When asked why he picked the Highlands his answer was simple, it reminded him of the highlands back home in Cape Breton Island.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday March 28, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 305 Queen Street Dunnville, Ontario.
