BLAKE, Robert David Philip (Bob), B.S., M.Ed.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert David Philip Blake (Bob…spelled the same way forward and backward!) on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 in his 91st year. He leaves behind the love of his life for more than 65 years, his wife Betty (Fraser) and their three girls,
Kim (Rick Kowch), Tamara (Steve Sloan) and Beth (Mike Black). Adored Grandad to Jennifer (Doug Miller), Taylor Kowch (Chelsea MacDonald), Sarah Sloan (Nicholas Anand), Alex Kowch (Sam Neeb), Blake Sloan (Amanda Taylor), John Black and Henry Black. Proud new Great

If you knew Bob, you knew there were a lifetime of stories in his sparkling blue eyes. He also wore many other hats… friend, teacher, coach, farmer, town councillor, mayor, marina owner, renovator, builder, DAAA super fan … but his greatest joys were time spent with family. Whether
on the ski hill or the golf course, in Dunnville, or places he travelled to in Canada or around the world, he was happiest surrounded by the people he loved, spreading his energy and passion for living his best life. He fell in love with his wife in the small town of Wallaceburg then
relocated to Dunnville, whose similar small town charm stayed with him his entire life. One of his proudest moments came when his phrase “Grand Living In A Great Town” adorned the sign entering town.
As per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Dunnville Golf Club, 150 Haldimand County Rd 17, on April 18th from 1-4 p.m. Please RSVP by April 10 th to Kim at kkowch1519@gmail.com or 519-835-4816.

He was a leader who seldom wanted to take no for an answer. Many times his persistence paid off. He gave a lot to our community. We were very fortunate to have Bob for a neighbour for over 50 years. My sincerest condolences to his entire family for their loss. When I was younger, they always made me feel welcome as part of their family. Very special memories around their kitchen table with “the girls” (especially Kim). And you always knew with Bob involved, their home was full of laughter and love.

As a Charter Member of the Dunnville Rotary Club, Bob helped lay the very foundation of our organization. His leadership as Club President in 2004–2005 reflected his deep commitment to Rotary’s ideals of service, fellowship, and community. Bob was truly bigger than life — his presence filled a room, his enthusiasm energized every project, and his generosity of spirit inspired us all.
For many years, Bob graciously gave his time and talents to help in our Rotary golf tournaments. He never hesitated to step forward when needed, and he did so with warmth, humour, and unwavering dedication.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the strength of our club and in the countless lives touched by his service. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever appreciated.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Bob on a few occasions but I know he was strong leader in the Dunnville community, but most importantly he was a devoted husband to one of the classiest ladies in Dunnville. Betty, my heart goes out to you but I know how strong you are and you will find the courage to go on one day at a time. I know this because I saw your influence as a teacher and mentor to colleagues ( myself included) at D.S.S. on a daily basis. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.
