Fred Moerschfelder
On February 10, 2025 Fred Moerschfelder passed away in the loving arms of his wife Jean at Niagara Falls General Hospital in his 79th year, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and countless memories.
Fred was a proud father to Sam & Tina, Allan, Carrie & Christian, Nick and Jessica, Chad, and Trevor & Lianne. Survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by his brother Floyd his wife Carol and their family. Fred will be greatly missed by the McFarlane family and by his good friend Dave McKinnon. Predeceased by his parents Allan and Jenny and by his nephew Terry whom he idolized. We can be certain they are making Maple Syrup, reminiscing about old times, adventures and shenanigans!
Fred wore many hats. He was a Driller both on land and the rigs of Lake Erie. A Trucker of Moerschfelder Water, Heavy Equipment Operator, Orator of local history, Napper of Flint making arrowheads and blades, Amateur Archeologist, and in his spare time was known to pick a mean Banjo, cultivate a bountiful garden and of course boil down sap to just the right consistency making the best Maple Syrup around these parts! The secret you ask? Just the right amount of Bitter Hickory! Fred was a runner, a bird hunter but later a bird watcher, and die hard fan of the Cleveland Indians who rewarded his loyalty with a Championship in 2016. It was harder to be a Cleveland Browns Fan, but he was nonetheless. He was a lover of dogs and had a great many memorable ones over the years and seemed to find a soft spot for Dachshunds, with Stella being his companion at the last. Fred had many interests and hobbies and he approached them all with the same vigor and devilish gleam in his eye! He could be known to have the odd beer and a few even ones too!
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 7th at Fred’s home 16 Bains Road Fisherville from 1:00 to 4:00 pm please bring a memory or story. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com In the words of The Wandering Paddy,

I’m going to miss you Fred. You had one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. The many laughs we had working on the farm house will be treasured forever. Have a cold one with Terry ❤️

I’d try to visit with him and Jean when they came up there to see the family had the best stories and such a vibrant man , interesting conversations the jokes the girls adored him

Fred was the kindest soul you could ever hope to meet. He always had a quick smile and a gleam in his eye; always full of great stories and belly laughs. We were blessed to call him family- and we will miss him immensely. Jean, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Sending you, and all of the extended family, love, light and our deepest condolences.

Rest In peace papa Fred, I hope in the afterlife you carry on doing all the things you loved most. I know we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together while you were here on this earth but I will forever remember the little moments I got with you, like when you taught me how your maple syrup was made or when you were showing me how you made your arrowheads.
