It is with deepest sadness that we announce Damian James Foy has passed on July 12, 2024.
He lived his “Life Large” in the wilds of Alberta for the majority of his working years. Now, after a 7 year heroic effort to cope and live with Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) hopefully he is now free to quad and live life larger than ever, once again!
Damian was born in Southport, UK, and moved to Niagara at age 5 with his parents and sister. He graduated in 1977 from Notre Dame in Welland, Ontario, (in the same class as his later to be wife, Victoria.) He left for the west at age 20 and worked as a millwright at the pulp mill in Hinton, Alberta where he reconnected with Victoria in 2005 and married in 2009. Many days were enjoyed together exploring the magnificent mountains, through quadding, camping, hiking and riding their horses and viewing the herds of wild horses! He loved all animals (especially his dogs, Princess, Ralf, Mookie and many cats,) nature activities, working on his 7 acres, watching Formula One racing, cheering on the Blue Jays and Buffalo Bills as well as photography, reading, crosswords and winning at trivia! All of that ended much too soon for his vibrant and outstanding lifestyle.
More than anything else Damian loved and cared for his family with amazing kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and was the most positive, optimistic man always! These are only some of the great strengths he possessed and will be remembered for by his wife and best friend, Victoria Baago, his mother, Patricia Foy, his sister, Nikki (Nadine), mother-in-law Sylvia Baago, niece Alison (Justin), grand nieces, Hannah and Jenny. Damian will also be greatly missed by “his sons” and their families, Bradley, Phillip (Ashley), Alexander, Kyle (Priscilla) and our precious grands, Khayden, Rachel, Everly and Easton all of whom he was so proud to love!
He was predeceased by his father, Terry Foy and his father-in-law, Wesley Baago. His many dear friends in Hinton and Niagara were also very important and special to him. Many thanks to all the kind staff who made Damian’s days a little brighter at: University of Alberta Hospital, Hinton Hospital, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Hamilton General, Welland Hospital, and Hotel Dieu Shaver.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for September 7, 2024 in Hinton, Alberta. Donations to WHOAS (Wild Horses of Alberta Society,) or any charity of your choice that supports animals would be appreciated to honour Damian. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com

Our sincere condolences to Victoria. Damian was such a kind, gentle man. We are so glad we were able to give him a ride in Lee’s sidecar so he could get that motorcycle feel on more time.
The world has lost another one but heaven has gained his presence now. Rest easy, Damian. You are now free.

So very sorry to hear of Damian’s passing. He was a very good tradesman and coworker. After so many years of hard work, it is disappointing to know Damian didn’t get the retirement years he so deserved but comforting to know he made his short but abundant years count in a big way.
