Death
Funeral

Marie was born on the Havill family farm near Sweets Corners in Rainham Township, Haldimand, attending one-room school houses and then Dunnville High School. At DHS she met John Kelly whom she married in 1952, soon after graduating.
The two moved to Toronto to pursue post-secondary studies and then back to Dunnville to start a family. She leaves behind her three sons Richard (Karen Dickhout), Brett (Christine) and Paul (Paula Wansbrough). She was the loving grandmother of Rachel (Matthew Piper), Alex, Sam and Jude. She was pre-deceased by John in 2000 and by her four siblings, Birge, Ross, Robert and Margaret (Rowe). She is survived by her step-sister Patricia Drynan (née Austin).
Marie worked at the CIBC branch in Dunnville and then Grandview Lodge for 20 years until her retirement. She was a skier, suntan veteran and event organizer who could fill a room with 150 on three days’ notice because no one could say no to her.Known for her striking looks, elegance, and unerring sense of style combined with an unpretentious and kind disposition, she will be mourned by many bridge partners, friends and admirers.
Cremation has taken place. No service will be held. However, those comfortable with social distancing are welcome to visit the family home in Dunnville for a martini in remembrance. As a tribute, play something by Leonard Cohen and play it loud. We wish to express our sympathy to Marie’s family.I knew Marie from Grandview Lodge as s very kind and pleasant lady.Orlin was in a carpool with her husband John .I knew the Havills ,having grown up near Selkirk .particularly the Birge Havill family.Gail graduated from the nursing class just ahead of mine.I did not know Marie was a Havill. She could have attended the same school at the same time as my mother’s family.Thinking of you.
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Marie. She was such a beautiful person. I met Marie several years ago through my friend Pat Loggie and I was so happy to share the occasional lunch or visit with Marie and Pat. They made wonderful company with their sharp sense of humour and a shared sense of style. Marie was so kind and genuinly interested in others and a wonderful conversationalist. Her caring nature and quick wit will be missed but I am appreciative that I had the opportunity to meet her.
I’m saddened to hear of Marie’s passing, I had been her hairstylist for the last 6 years. My condolences to Marie’s family,
David.
