DETENSHEN Marjorie Olive.
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Portal Village Retirement Home on April 28, 2023 in her 96th year. Dear wife of the late John Detenshen. Loving mother of David and the late Margaret Detenshen and Wendy Waines and husband Bob. Loving grandmother of Dallas Waines, Amanda Waines-Pablo (Alex), Jared Detenshen, Sara Tady (Shawn) and Jessica Tenove (Jeff). Great grandmother of Oliver and Charlie-Rose Tenove. Predeceased by brother Stanley Major, sisters Joyce Spring and Geraldine Powell. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Marjorie and John were proud owners of Johnny’s Drive In “The Long Dawg” for over 30 years until retirement in 1977. They chose to live a slower pace after 14 hour days and moved to a 10 acre country home in Dunnville. Marjorie was never idle and eventually took up many artistic endeavours learning how to play the organ and ukulele, crafting paper tole art which led to the creation of another business called Creative Dimensions with picture framing, stained glass and finally her true passion of card making. She enjoyed weekly meetings with fellow crafters “The Bag Ladies” and the Ukulele Group. She resided at Portal Village her last four years where she received excellent care from the compassionate staff. A life well lived, Marjorie wished cremation with no service. If desired, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com

To Marjorie’s Family:
I knew Marjorie from our membership in the Haldimand Ukulele Group, and from the lovely cards she created. What an amazing lady she was – always ready to try new things and participate in many activities!
I hadn’t been in touch since she went to Portal Village, but I will certainly miss and remember her with much affection. May she R.I.P.
Sending my sincere condolences to Marjorie’s whole family. I met Marjorie through my Aunt Caroline
Grenke , who lived close by. She framed a picture for me . I purchased many of her beautiful cards. She did beautiful work in all her crafts. Marjorie was a wonderfully kind and friendly lady. I am so glad I got to know her . Judy Houser

Marjorie was my ” go to ” lady for framing my watercolours (often an emergency for needing them right away!)
I was also a huge fan of her cards, and recently sent one of the last ones that I had.
I wanted to get in touch with her, to let her know how much I appreciated her, and was dismayed when I couldn’t find out where she was…..
I wish to express my sympathy to Marjories’ family. She was a very active and important part of our “Bag Ladies” at Grace United. She was a very dedicated crafter with many talents, stained glass, picture framing and card making. I have 2 of her stained glass pieces in my home and also some picture framing as well, very special to me. She will be missed by many.
